What does it look like to become someone God uses for great things? In this message, we explore one of the lesser-known but deeply compelling passages of the Old Testament -- the account of David's mighty men in 2 Samuel 23. These warriors were legendary in their day, men who stood their ground against impossible odds, defended unlikely patches of ground, and fought until their hands froze to their swords. But the real power wasn't found in their finished exploits. It is found in where they started. Before there were any mighty men, there was a cave. Before there was fame, there was a ragged band of about 400 men described in 1 Samuel 22 as distressed, in debt, and discontent. These were not the polished heroes of a finished story. They were broken people drawn to a future king who had not yet been crowned. And that is exactly where God does some of His most important work -- in the cave seasons of our lives, when things feel uncertain, uncomfortable, and far from glorious. Stop disqualifying yourself based on where you are right now. Start recognizing that the cave might be the very place where God is forming you into who He has called you to be.
